Dirt Roads of Uganda

We love all SCC music and Scott has used one of Steven's songs for each of our girl's coming home videos and we have picked YOURS for Joseph's song ... The lyrics about Uganda in this song bring tears to my eyes each day ... I have such a deep longing to be in Uganda right now walking the dirt roads, touching the people, holding the hand of Matty Joseph, seeing Katie and her children, and an urgency to drink in the joy and culture of this amazing people group ... I just have to believe that a longing and a desire that is so deep with in my soul had to come from the Lord .. I have never been to Africa and yet there are moments during the day that if I close my eyes, I can escape to there and feel the wind blowing in my face and hear the laughter and singing of hundreds of children ... Thank you Lord for all the whispers you give us each day and how they bless us, challenge us, and keep us close to you ...

I received some amazing new pictures of Matty Joseph from a volunteer at Amani ... He is just going to be the perfect little Oatsvall ... His smile, laughter, and mischievous nature will fit right in !!!!

25 kind words.:

Funny how you can love a place you've never been. When the Lord has opened your heart, it's absolutely amazing what He will do!

Praying you are there before you know it!!

Gwen, oh I know exactly what you are talking about!

I have a HUGE stirring in my spirit to GO!

I know it must be of Him because I'm not one to travel to far off lands. Not to mention the desire is NOT going away. I know He will show us when and where when it is His time - until then He is preparing the way!

I truly can't wait to see you in Africa and home with all of your children!

Lots of love precious friend!

I loved your post....I have been to Africa (Liberia)...and it brings tears to my eyes just typing this...it's the most incredible place...poverty, dirt, hungry people everywhere...smiles, laughter, never too many hugs, LOVE, gorgeous ocean views, children's smiling faces and shiny white teeth, soft beautiful hands of the most gorgeous children/people in the world...and my list could go on.

Thank you for allowing my through your recent post, to reminisce my own journey to Africa. Still praying that your children will be home soon.

I know that ol' familiar feeling...it's God breaking our hearts for those places that are close to His very own heart.
One day....one day!
Every tongue, every nation, every people, every tribe....
Until then we persevere!

Gwen, beautiful post!! You will NEVER be the same when you journey to your beloved Uganda. Ethiopia captured our hearts and we are lost hopelessly in love. You described your heart beautifully and Africa!!
We pray your journey is soon!!

He is a precious treasure. I think I understand this yearning in your heart. I've had a yearning for Africa for many many years...It sometimes is overwhelming.

My oldest son had a vision a couple years ago while praying, that he was preaching the gospel to a group of men in Africa. Maybe God has called our family....just not sure where yet...

Oh, I feel your heart, hear it sing. We will leave for our mission trip to South Africa in 6 weeks. When I walk here at home, there is a certain place along the dirt road where I look across at the sunset and think of Africa. I don't know why it always makes me think of Africa. I'm wondering if I will find a place there that reminds me of home when the sun goes down.
Blessings,
Robbie

Yes, I understand that longing to be in Africa that God has placed in your heart. I felt it so strongly before I went, and now that I have been there, it is stronger than ever. I will be returning for a few weeks in September, and I can hardly wait. This time, I will get to meet Isaiah, my newest grandson, who will soom be coming home to his forever family in California! My son Justin found him on his trip to Uganda earlier this month, and now that we know who he is, it is even harder to wait!

Paying that you will soon be holding Matty Joseph. I know that you will fall in love with Uganda and its beautiful people, and leave a part of your heart there. But I think that is what God wants, because I know His heart is there, too.
