ASK ME ANYTHING ....

A few friends have done this post and I thought it would be fun ... I am an open book and feel like my heart is fully exposed as I wait to bring my daughter home from China and pray for a daughter and son in Ethiopia ...

Just some background information... I am married to my high school sweetheart. We will be celebrating 17 yrs of marriage this December. He is a man who wanted only 1 child and now at our dinner table he prays for our children and those to come. I am honored to be his wife. I love being a stay home mom and everything that comes with it except for the laundry and the dishes. I am a sport mom not a crafty mom. I got my first and only tattoo (so far) last year on my anniversary. I drive a 10 passenger conversion van that is not cool, but holds all the children I hope God to bless us with.

HAVE FUN AND ASK AWAY ....I will post answers in comment section ...

32 kind words.:

We're going to have such a great time. I'm so excited and I could just kiss Verna for that graphic. It melts me everytime I see it!

Where do you get all of your energy?

Gwen Oatsvall said...

good question Pam and I do get ask that a lot ... I make sure I work out 6 days a week at least an hour a day and I have one diet coke/diet mtn. each day for the caffeine ...I have never been a sit down person, so I move all day either cleaning, playing with kids, or organizing something ... sometimes I even stand to eat at lunch/breakfast...weird i know!

Who has been the one person whom you most admire and why?
What one thing do you most want to be remembered for when you are gone?
What was the most embarrasing thing any of your children did in public that made you want to crawl into a hole right then and there????Or is it you who embarasses them in public?

Gwen Oatsvall said...

mr. brian (glad you finally stopped by ..becky thinks the world of you) person i admire the most would have to be my husband ... his childhood was not easy and to see the man that God has created in him amazes me. he is an amazing leader in our home and is always willing to let God lead him even when he would rather not go ..i want to be remembered for being a loyal, loving and godly wife, mother, and friend.

most embarrassing moment was when jeremiah was 4 and i was in the hospital having Elijah and he told a person whom we respect and admire that very animatedly their breath was bad ...i was so horrified i didn't even know what to say ....and that never happens to me!!! i am sure once my children are older it will be me embarrassing them ...lol

Oh honey, I will have to think on this one...we talk so openly I'll have to ponder what I might not know!
And, yeah, you are sooooo beautiful (inside AND out)...

Did I miss a post on your prayers for a daughter and son in Ethiopia? It's so exciting to see God at work in your family through international adoption. :)

Gwen Oatsvall said...

ashley, i posted a couple of months back about our desire to adopt a sibling set (brother/sister)from Ethiopia after we bring maggie home .. just something the Lord is pointing us too ... so please pray!

Ashley said...

I will pray for you guys ... that sounds so exciting!! I'm going to look for that post now.

You are lovely! I like putting a face to my bloggy buddies.
I am going shopping for Maggie this week, I am so excited for her and your family. Can't wait for your shower.

connie, i don't like to cook, but i love to have friends and family over all the time, so i have mastered a few really good recipes and snack food type things... we have a lot family meals together during the week, but it is usually the same ole things ... tacos, spaghetti, hamburgers, and stir fry.

i am so excited for Maggie's shower also that i feel like a kid at christmas !!!

Hi my name is Kristy and I love your blog, feel free to go to ours also. You are very blessed as we are. Oh and the tattoo thing, I promise you that you will get another!!!! I got my second one a year ago on my birthday, now it will be my last but after the first one they are addicting. But on a more serious note, you seem like a "real" person and what a blessing it is for me to have met you even if it is online. Love, Kristy

Okay here goes. You stated that you will be married for 17 years this year. Do you and Scott have a weekly date night? How do you make time for each other with 3 children and one on the way??
Do you have a routine that you follow when working out 6 days a week??

insanemommy said...

Just stopping in to wish you the best and to tell you you are gorgeous! I'm thinking I hate you too cuz you're probably super skinny also. Lol.

I do have a question. How many children do you currently have?

Gwen Oatsvall said...

laura, we try to have a real date night once a month, but we do make time for just the two of us each day and that is intentional.. and what most people find odd is that we are both coaches, so that gives us a lot of time together and something in common to share...we have been married almost seventeen years, but dated almost 7 also ... i have been with this man forever and i just love it !!!!

Gwen Oatsvall said...

you are sweet and i am not super skinny and won't ever be ... i love to eat way to much, but i am a runner, so that balances me out ...lol

i currently have 4 children, but my heart has at least 6 ... i am just waiting on the Lord to bring them home to Brentwood, TN !!!! on my way to visit you now ...

Here's a question for you - when did you know that you would eventually marry your husband?

Kathi said...

How did you name the kids?

Gwen Oatsvall said...

ashley, i feel instantly in love with Scott in the 9th grade and it was our senior year that I knew I would spend the rest of my life with him. it hasn't always been easy, but God has protected us and blessed us as a family more than i could have ever dreamed ...

Gwen Oatsvall said...

kathy, the boys are named after biblical names with middle names honoring important men in our lives ... Emily is named after Emily Chapman, who is the student that helped Scott realize that God was pointing us toward adoption. Maggie is named after my grandmother. The kids have named their brother from Ethiopia already Joseph and we are working on the girl's name. My best friend Carlee said she isn't speaking to me again if we don't put her name in there some where ... lol

Gwen Oatsvall said...

isabella's mommy (don't you love being called that name) ... thanks for your sweet words ....

Kim said...

I have a question.. Do you have a seperate blog for your adoption or adoptions to Ethipia? Can you explain a little about that..
Are you adopting twins and then also your little girl from China?
Sorry I am confused..
But in the long run... YOUR family is amazing..
Kim

this is my only blog ... my husband has been teaching a missions class at his school and it caused us to research Africa. I guess that is where God turn our hearts towards Ethiopia for our next adoption. We won't pursue this adoption until Maggie is home and settled, but we have contacted an agency and gotten all the information. We feel lead to a sibling group because they are the hardest to place and know that if we adopt from Ethiopia we would want 2 children, so we thought we would get them at the same time... One child being older 2-3 and one being an infant...i will do a post soon on statistics and the culture of Ethiopia ... it really is an amazing country and one of the top 3 poorest countries in the world.

i'm going out of town this weekend, but i was wondering if maggie (you)'s registered anywhere for the "shower"?

Anonymous said...

Thank you Gwen on the post from our Big Green Egg experience :) It's amazing!! My question is...what is a blog baby shower? Do people post what they are going to get the baby?? How do you get food and games to play...LOL...just kidding on that part...I know I'm not in the loop, but would love to get Maggie something..

Kathy/Brenda ...you are both so sweet to check in on my Maggie's shower ... all you need to do is go to seventhdiamond.blogspot.com and she has Maggie's wish list (it was my friend Kim's idea to do this) ... it is such a cool thing ... people that you blog with and have watched your journey send sweet Maggie a gift in the mail ... i am so excited and realize how many people are caring for and praying for my sweet little one across the ocean ...

Kathi said...
