Thankful For Foster Moms

I have had the privilege of meeting many foster moms over the past two years as I travel around w/ 147 and the look in their eyes is something I wish I could bottle ... They have a strength and a love that is unmeasurable ...

I had a very short, yet special season as an interim care mom for my adoption agency and got to love on 3 sweet angels until their forever families were found ... Here is a phrase I heard over and over again from people as they  would OOOOHHHHH AND AAAAAAAAHHHHHH over these little babies I was holding and it was, "Oh, I could never do that because I wouldn't be able to give them up."  ... I can only imagine how often full time foster moms here this and it struck me as odd that people would infer that they LOVE so much greater than a foster mom, so therefore they couldn't do that job ... When in reality it takes the act of SELFLESSNESS to give your life away to a child.  To put their need for safety, love, food, and home over the pain that will come when they leave ... And foster parents do this over and over and over again ...

FOSTER MOMS (and Dads) are among the most selfless and loving people on this earth ... They sacrifice their hearts everyday to give a child the love of family.  They bridge the gap for a time in a child's life when they have NO ONE to look out for them ... They include them in their lives as if they will be there forever (knowing many times that is impossible according to our court systems) ... They pray and dedicate so much of their life to just GIVING IT AWAY to children and many times will never receive anything in return ...

They are Gods walking angels here on earth ...  I applaud all foster families that STEP UP and STEP IN when needed ... Your hearts are truly a testament to the way CHRIST loves !!!

THANKFUL THIS SEASON FOR ALL WHO LOVE ON CHILDREN IN NEED

This I needed to hear....THANK YOU! We are fostering a sweet little four month old girl and have been since shortly after birth. So much of it has been rewarding but it gets tiring to hear the statements about love you wrote. I would LOVE to keep this sweet angel but that is not in God's plan so I have to love her enough to eventually give her to her loving family member(s). It also means advocating for her and doing what is best for her. And, let me tell you....what has been best for her has not always been the easiest for our family. We have opened our lives to her family in a way we would have never agreed to beforehand. But, it is best for her and ultimately it is what we are being called to do by God. Thank you again for your kind words.

I have been a foster mom for 7 years. I have had about 20 abies and children in my home. I have adopted 4 so far with another that should be completed any day now. I also had a baby from birth (a bio siblng to 2 of my boys)we shoud be preparing to go to court to start his aoption process but instead he went home to Jesus just 22 days ago. Best anyone can tell at this point because he appeared so healthy it was sids but also what he was e xposed to in utero. I did cpr when this happened. They called me in the er room to say goodbye I begged him to stay with me that I loved him And his heart gave a beat. We were in the picu for 2 days until he went home to Jesus. I remember having to tell some staff that I may be his foster mom but he is my son. He will always be my son.Our home is empty with out him. We miss him. At the end of his memorial we played the video to Third Day's Children of God.

Thank you so much for posting this! I have several good friends who are foster parents; and watching them live out God's love in such amazing, selfless ways is unbelievable. My husband and I were placed with twins in a foster-to-adopt situation, so we went into it knowing we would be adopting them. Now we are embarking on a comparable journey of adopting another sibling set from foster care. I definitely admire those parents who go into it knowing it might not (or probably won't) end in adoption. What a huge amount of courage and love. I so appreciate this post.
