What I am Reading ...

I am reading ONE THOUSAND GIFTS right now ... I am not going to recommend it quite yet ... It is a hard read for me because of all the flowery technique she uses to write with, but her MESSAGE is incredible ... GIVING THANKS ALL DAY LONG and being JOYFUL right where you are - IT IS A MESSAGE WE ALL NEED ... This analogy was strong and hit me square in the heart - if you want to remove the nails in your life that bring sadness, bitterness, regret, discontentment, etc ... then flip the board over and start pounding in NAILS of thanksgiving in ... This will root out the nails from the other side ...

I haven't starting writing out my 1000 list of THANKSGIVING yet, but I am mentally being more aware right now ... FRONT PARKING SPACE at the YMCA, the SUNSHINE, my PICTURES that decorate my desk from my children, the prayers of my HUSBAND for me, THE ACHE THAT SITS IN MY HEART FOR ORPHANS, birthday cake, basketball games, Rose getting a family, and my list goes on and on !!!

I will let ya know when I finish ... If you are reading a MUST READ ... please share it w/ me !!!

HAPPY FRIDAY !!!

I am reading that as well....message is incredible! I also read A Cord of Three Strands by Sara Berry and Tricia Robbins. It is a TRUE adoption story....about God's amazing redemption in the life of an adoptive mom, birth mom, and daughter. It is on Amazon or bethelroadpublications.com. AND I also just read Calm my Anxious Heart by Linda Dillow, AMAZING as well. We are waiting on our child to be able to come home from Ethiopia so this book was exactly what I needed :)

I am just coming to the end of "It's Not Okay With Me" by Janine Maxwell. I may be a little behind the times on this, so there's a possibility you've read it before...but man, oh man... it's rocking my world.

"Heaven is for Real" ... an AMAZING book.

Quick read, but powerful. I read it in 2 sittings; but am now reading 1-2 chapters nightly as a read-a-loud to the family. They are all loving it.

True Life Story about a 3 year old that spent a bit of time in heaven, while his body was on the operating table. Seriously ... it is a MUST READ for every Believer.

One of my friends randomly handed me this book a few weeks ago. I am about 1/2 way through. Her writing technique is difficult to read, but the story is beautiful and the challenge of gratitude and joy is a great reminder! Enjoy!

Wow, SO glad to finally hear at least one other person say this. Totally agree that she is SO full of wisdom and the message the Lord brings through her is straight to the heart, but I struggle to keep up with how she words things. I thought I was the only person ON THE PLANET who felt this way!!!!

i just read that book and, like you, had a hard time at first. i generally like to whiz through a book. the faster i can read it, the better. but this one is so different. after a few chapters i "got" her writing and fell in love w/the book. i'm now reading it a second time and it's amazing. it's more like a devotion-type book. check out the "incourage" website for a chapter-by-chapter book discussion w/the author and angie (from bring the rain). it's a good way to kind of digest what you've read.

I think you have already recommended this one, but I just finished "Choosing to See" by Mary Beth Chapman yesterday. It's definitely a "MUST READ"!!!

I recommend Love in the Driest Season by Neely Tucker. It is a book about a family who struggled through the adoption process in Zimbabwe out of love for an orphan. It's a great read.

Thanks for everything you do. I am not a religious person, but I am very inspired by what you are all doing for orphans.

Mom to a beautiful adopted Ethiopian boy!

Have you read "Choosing to See" by Mary Beth Chapman? If not, you really do need to. Also pick up Steven Curtis Chapmsn's CD "Beauty Will Rise" at the same time. Both deal with losing their daughter and what they went through. Inspirational!

I have read this book twice now. Powerful message. My current read is "Listen" by Rene Gutteridge. It's thought-provoking novel.
