147 Gave Us (another) Purpose ...

I remember Suzanne and I talking about how we wanted to get involved in helping orphans and adoptive families ... We knew we wouldn't be adopting forever and there was a deep passion and longing to help orphans ...  We were and are stay home moms w/ a super busy schedule, but we just knew God was calling us to more ... HE wanted us to find a way to use all the talents HE had given us for HIS kingdom ... Honestly there was no place for us in a big organization ... Can you just see us taking about 4 to 6 kids to work w/ us everyday ... lol ... Most people are not hiring for that, but 147 IS !!!  Our amazing volunteer staff is busy moms all using their amazing talents and hearts to keep 147 functioning ... We have so much fun together and love hearing from you and how 147 has impacted you ... 147 KIT is our newest HEART project ...

We wanted to find a way for you to help take ownership of YOUR HEART'S DESIRE TO HELP ORPHANS and the 147 SHARE KIT is it ... We have given you all the tools you need to help share the 147 Mission plus in buying your KIT you feed a child for two months ... When you are sharing the 147 story you can also make it personal for yourself ... TELL HOW GOD HAS PLACED ORPHANS ON YOUR HEART ... We want to partner w/ you TILL THEY ARE ALL FED ... We want to partner w/ you in opening people's eyes and hearts to orphans ... We want to partner w/ you in helping spread the word about 147 adoptive family fundraising ... WE SIMPLY WANT TO GIVE YOU A TOOL SO YOU CAN BE USED BY GOD to Speak Up For Those With No Voice ...

Share it w/ your Sunday School Class, Your MOM's group, Your Girlfriend's, or just anybody ... We will be glad to walk hand in hand w/ you !!! OUR 147 story is not just about us, but all who are willing to lend a hand and heart to make a difference ... WE sold our first kit to an AMAZING 6TH GRADE YOUNG BOY ... He saved his money to buy it and I can't wait to see how he uses it !!!

I love this idea! I have often wished that I lived in TN where all of this is going on. Never in my life did I even think about orphans until I started blogging a couple of years ago. Then, I ran across Katie's blog and it just brought tears to my eyes and opened them to what is going on. I was crying and walking to my room to go to bed, and asking God what I could possibly do to help because I am just one person and I don't have alot of money, and I distinctly heard Him say to me, "It was never about the money." That is only the 2nd time I've ever heard Him speak to me. I have wondered ever since what He meant by that. And every time I see or hear about an orphan conference or something wonderful happening for the orphans, I get so excited. God definitely changed my heart and opened my eyes and I have no idea what to do or what this means or what He wants me to do. I'm still trying to figure it out. But, I love your ministry and I hope that I can save up the money to buy one of these soon!

I just want to say thank you. You are so inspiring and encouraging and...just wanted to pass some love along from a girl who reads your blogs (suzanne's and katie's, too!) voraciously. :) Blessings in HIM!

It's too late to save for this, this go 'round, but I'm hosting just that- an Orphan Night!- here in my home this Friday. (if you know any locals that haven't got the orphan bug from you and Suzanne... send 'em my way!)

I'll certainly be wearing my 147 shirt!

Gwen,

Thanks for sharing your story. I work with Robert Jones at New Hope Academy. Because of Robert and Jennetta, I found out that it was possible to adopt from Uganda. (I went there on a missions trip 9 years ago, and that trip ignited my desire to adopt, but it wasn't open at the time.). As a result, my husband Joel and I are in the process of adopting and our lives have been turned upside down (in a good-and sometimes hard-way). Thanks for blazing the trail with Suzanne and pushing through the hard days. What you are doing matters more than you know. Hope to meet you sometime. Blessings.
