My Treasures ...

I just want to say a special "thank you" to Brenda, Diane, Suzanne, Stacy, My mom and Wendy for donating their treasures to help us bring home our treasures !!!
Class Rings ... Diane, Suzanne, and Mine ... Can't tell you what this means to me to see you walk w/ me and give up something precious ....

My friend Tracy, who is bringing home a sibling group of 4 from Ethiopia had a gold party to help raise funds for their adoption ... Here is how it works ... You collect gold and take it to the party ... You leave w/ cash for your gold and the hostess gets 15% !!! How amazing is that ... I am waiting on my total now because so many people came to help her that they couldn't weigh all the gold (You gotta love people WHO GET IT) ... Tracy has made $1200 so far to help bring home her precious children from the Gold Party !!
When she told me what she was doing I went through my jewelry and this is the scripture that came to mind as I stared at the drawer, "Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where theives break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal FOR WHERE YOUR TREASURE IS THERE YOUR HEART WILL BE ALSO." Matthew 6:19-21

I decided right then there were things I hadn't worn in over 20 years like my class ring, broken gold chains, and even a couple of precious items and I put them in a bag and asked my friends to help ... Abigail and Joseph are far more precious than silver or gold to us ... My children are the only treasures I can take to heaven w/ me ... SOOOOOOOO again I need your help ...

S0 I am going to book a party and have one at my house. I know this is bold of me to ask because honestly most of us have never met, but oddly enough we are family here in cyberspace, so if any of you have any old gold jewelry, broken gold braclets, or rings that you would you consider mailing to me for my party that will help bring Abigail and Joseph home from Africa then please email me and I will send you my mailing address ...
The t-shirts are selling great and when I pop on your blogs and see my button I get very excited and emotional ... Thanks for you help !!!!
We are two days away from Maggie's surgery ... She knows something is up and I just want to say thanks for all your prayers ... My sweet Maggie girl will pull through w/ SHINING STARS and it will be one step closer to healing her physically ... God works daily on healing her heart and molding me as a mother!!!!
Love You All

10 kind words.:

Just wanted you to know I am praying for Maggie and your family you are always on my mind but especially the next week as she starts her surgeries. My last baby was born with a spot on his head and they were going to remove it and put in scalp extenders so I can only imagine how you must feel. For my baby they have decided to wait until he is older. Regardless I will be praying for you this week.

Hello my beloved sister..... your family is always in my heart and my prayers..... I have been and will be praying for your sweet Maggie.... even though I think of her as our Maggie because I love her too like an Auntie.
This post truly touched me in so many ways.... but most of all with the simple truth of God's Word and the beauty of a mother's heart.
I don't really splurge on jewelry but I will look and see if I have anything gold that I can send you.
Hold on little Joseph and Abagail.... your Mama's coming.
God's Speed,

Okay, let me begin by saying you have quoted one of favorite Scripture passages!!! So, thank you.

Do not store up your treasures here on this earth...makes everything so much easier when we realize that everything we do needs to be of God, for God, honors God and brings Him glory. What better way to do that than to offer what we have to bring home your A and J. And, for anyone reading this who has graduated from HS...ask yourself this, when was the last time I wore my HS ring? For me the answer was an easy one and handing back to God what He gave me and is His in the beginning was no prolem. In the end of it all, He returns great Joy to me to see that O L D HS ring working hard to bring A and J home....Gwen, they will be home before you know it!!!!

Maggie's name is in CAPS on our family calendar, lots of J's gonna be praying for your Maggie girl.
