RUNNING ON THE TREADMILL CRYING IS NOT SAFE ...

I think the thing that adoption has changed the most about me is the way I care for those I don't know .... I picture every hurting child as my own ... I was running while watching FREEDOM WRITERS today and bawling like a baby (not something I recommend by the way)... I saw those teenagers facing so many difficult things and I pictured my Jeremiah & Elijah there ... I read my SIL's post today and I see the faces of my children in Ethiopia ... I got an email from a blog friend today and there is a teenage girl in Texas, who just found out she has ovarian cancer (she just lost her mother recently to cancer) and I see Emily and Maggie ...

God has been so amazing to open my eyes to so much because of adoption ... I am thankful for the thoughts, the sleepless nights, the sadness, and the need to know more about the hurting children of the world ... It doesn't take a hero to make a difference ... It takes ordinary people doing what is right to change the world ... I think of Kimberly my blog buddy, who is raising money for surgeries for children in China after she just finished a clothing/supply drive for an orphanage ... I think of Verna (aka Blog Fairy) designing blogs and giving the money to families adopting and in need of more financial help ... I think of a special friend who is helping us out w/ all this insurance stuff for Maggie... I think of so many helping me to write this book so we can change peoples lives.

Please pray for this sweet girl in Texas, My SIL and all the waiting families and the orphans of the world ... There is strength in numbers ... Lord says where 2 or more are gathered in My name there He will be ...

Another person pitching in is my bro Jim Chapman ... I posted a while back about this beautiful gift he gave me w/ the China Angel watching over my girls till I got there ... Well I had some interest in the painting, so if you are interested in purchasing one you can contact Jim @ yochampan@aol.com . The paintings are $400 and Jim will donate $100 to Shoahannah's Hope Foundation ...

Have a fabulous week !!!

I completely understand what you are saying here. I too am so touched by these children and their needs. Sometimes I just feel overwhelmed by it. But I try to focus on doing what I can. If I had my way, my life's work would be raising money so more families could bring their children home and supporting the the orphanages in any way that I could. I would love to spend 2 weeks at Starfish.
I am inspired by the strength and courage of the mothers in our group, you going to China alone to bring Maggie home and Crystal on her own in Africa. To me, that takes such strength and faith.

As I was reading I found myself saying, "yeah, me too!", several times. I am so very thankful that God opened my eyes to the world of orphans. I pray for them daily. As I wait to bring my baby girl home from Ethiopia I wonder how I will handle seeing the other children left behind. My heart aches at the thought of hurting children.

Praying for you and your little ones. You are right, there is so much power in prayer. I love your tender heart, Gwen. You are a true blessing in this adoption world!

I was finally able to sit down and listen to the interview On The Home Stretch that you did. All that I can say is Wow!! I loved that you shared the truth about adoption (the good and the tough moments) and how the Lord has changed you through the adoption process. You are a great public speaker.

Hope you are having a great week.

I totally understand too Gwen, thats what adoption did to me. I often tell people adopting Jacob was all about Connie wanting a baby, then something happened in my heart and it became about all of THEM needing a home, love and a future...Now I want to be a mother to all that God will bring to me.

Amazing. Glad I found your blog through Dori. I will make it a regular stop as it is a blog with purpose. Can't wait to chat soon. Hope your meeting goes well tomorrow!

As to your post, I feel that way too now ALL the time and we are still waiting for our treasure from the other side of the world. Yet I feel like I see our boys differently too. I told someone recently that I will never again take for granted how miraculous is each and every child God chooses to entrust to me and my husband. They are each and everyone a blessing beyond measure!

Thanks for your beautiful post.
