YOU KNOW YOU ARE AN ADOPTIVE PARENT OR SHOULD BE WHEN...
1. The fact that there are 143 million children without a parent to kiss them goodnight has made you lose sleep.
2. You realize DNA has nothing to do with love and family.
3. You can't watch Adoption Stories on TLC without sobbing.
4. The fact that, if 7% of Christians adopted 1 child there would be no orphans in the world, is convicting to you.
5. You spend free time surfing blogs about families who have experienced the blessing of adoption.
6. It drives you crazy when people ask you about adopted child's "real" parents.
7. You have ever been "pregnant" with your adoptive child longer than it takes an elephant to give birth.(2 years!)
8. You had no idea how you would afford to adopt but stepped out in faith anyway, knowing where God calls you He will provide.
9. You have ever taken an airplane ride half-way around the world with a child you just met.
10. You believe God's heart is for adoption.
11. You realize that welcoming a child into your heart and family is one of the most important legacies you could ever leave on this earth.
12. You know what the word "Dossier" means, and you can actually pronounce it!
13. You have welcomed a social worker into the most private parts of your life.
14. You shudder when people say your child is so lucky that you adopted them, knowing full well you are the blessed one to have him or her in your life.

I am home with 3 kids today cause snow canceled some school, still in my pjs surfing around for a minute ... there could be several posts today ... Maggie's dr. appt changed to Friday ... Hoping to post some pictures of kiddos in snow ...

Gwen...I am going to have to stop reading your blogs!! I have some of those "symptoms", a miracle would have to happen for me to ever be able to adopt, I guess it would be kind of cool to see a miracle:)
No, Metro for some reason needs the distinction of being the ONLY district in Mid TN open today, so Lighthouse had school...so I still have 3 home with me as usual, they have already been outside in the snow twice:)
It isn't like Alaska "where the snow stays on the ground for a long time" according to Zeb, but I guess it will do for today!
I think I am going to start praying about adopting...my heart is there, my situation is not...the more I think about it the more I would love to see a miracle...maybe you can pray with me about it...
The snow didn't make it over here to us. It's probably good, though, since Rachel has been home sick all week from school. If it did snow I would want to let her play in it since we so rarely get any, but I know she shouldn't since she's sick. So I guess God just made my decision for me! Have fun in the snow and I hope to see some snow pictures!!!

Go Girl!! Two days in a row of postings and maybe more today. Love reading your blog and I have to admit reading some of your friends blogs to. I love to read about their referral and gotcha days. (If they read this, assure them I'm not some crazy woman!--no comments Rose!) I don't think I'll ever adopt but will definitely find ways to help others in the process.
I may have to sub tomorrow for Buddy at a kiddie b'ball clinic he does on Thursday nights. Do you think 4, 5 and 6 year olds are to young for an initiation with The Pyramid?
Snow here too...well, if you can call it that. I posted Annslee enjoying it....too funny : )

My heart hurts thinking about a single child not having someone to have every night to love them...I need a warning before you post anymore of these types of blogs, I can't think about anything else now...

I'm not an adoptive mom, yet, but Adoption Stories makes me a blubblering idiot. Maybe there should be a list for, "You Know You'll Be an Adoptive Mom if..."
Dear Gwen - Thank you so much for posting this. I've never read it before, but WOW....totally relate to all of it!!! And of course it's going up on my blog and out to a few people as well. Loved your previous post too about your kiddos....just precious!! HUGs, Anita...another adoptive momma x2...is there another one Lord? (don't tell my hubby I said that just yet!)
Love the pictures! What FUN! I miss playing outside with little ones! I guess I'll have to wait for grandkids or get Cayden and Deacon over here soon! Shawnah
Enjoyed all the pictures from this and the prior post. Enjoy the snow day - we miss those long pj days after playing in the snow... everyone looks great and we can't wait to be there. I have read this before. It always amazes me because it is so true... and it is somehow comforting because you read it you are reminded that there are others out there just like you that truly, "GET IT!"

Well now I have to read that book, and I will be hooked for sure;)
I told Kevin last night about starting to pray for a miracle and if God would lead us to adopt...at first he said "NO WAY!", then we talked a little more, and he said, "It would have to be a parting of the Red Sea miracle for it to happen." (I am not sure if it was God or just me...but I kind of felt a little like, "OK, you asked for it buddy!!") So I have started praying for my "Red Sea miracle" and I am really excited to see what is going to happen!!
Just checking you guys out. Love to see what is going on in your world. Love ya, praying for you guys.

I love that. I think that is why the adoption community is so close. We truly understand all of those things, and many others don't have a clue.
