EYES OPEN

WHOA ... what did you just say ???? !!!!

OUR NEWEST ADDITION ... sweet sweet Kevin ... Kevin is a junior in high school and was in need of a family to step up and stand in the gap for him ... He has the kindest eyes and a pure faith in his heart ... Life has not always been fair, but you can tell Kevin has a resilience to handle whatever life throws at him ... On Monday I went on a simple ride w/ my friend Kelly Putty (Ordinary Hero) to pick Kevin up because he was in need of switching schools again due to his living situation ... After hearing him talk for a few minutes God simply told me that this was a crucial moment in his life and that we were suppose welcome him into our home and hearts ... After talking w/ Scott, the three of us sat down and just discussed Kevin moving in with us and allowing us to be a part of his life ... WE MOVED HIM IN MONDAY ... Yep, that quick ... I just jumped cause God said jump ... I am really not good as asking how, when, where, why ... I just jumped (most of the time ... I am bit stubborn, but so glad I wasn't on Monday) ...

Now as many of you know I was praying for God to open Scott's heart to adopting again and I had my specific requests ... HERE IS THE COOLEST THING EVER ... I had never even mentioned a Junior in HIGH SCHOOL ... hee hee, but GOD knew what would bring my heart peace, joy, and love ... We stepped off the cliff into a peaceful tornado ... We are so excited Kevin is with us and even more excited to see what God will do with his life ... I know it will be something significant, because Kevin has a special spirit ...

HOPE YOU ENJOY THIS SWEET PIC OF THE MEN GOING OFF TO BBALL PRACTICE ... I am sure I will take a few more pictures over the next week or so ... hee hee

This is just too cool that you would be sharing this right now and I would be reading it. My husband and I just decided this past week to try to adopt two teenage brothers. This is just the kind of thing I needed to see tonight! God knows His kids, doesn't He? :) And how wonderful for Kevin and your family!

Oh my goodness, Gwen!!! Isn't God AMAZING!! He had laid this on your heart for so long... He knew the plans He had for you and that you'd be READY! LOVE to hear how He just confirmed it in both of your hearts and you OBEYED!
Cannot wait to hear MORE about this precious new addition :)

Wow, one more remarkable story to make up your life. Your obedience is so inspiring to me, you and Scott are such an encouragement and example of what it looks like to say yes. I'm so excited for all of you!

Congratulations on your newest addition. I was in your "I drive a bus" breakout session in January at C4C. We have been blessed by older child adoption-adopted a 9 year old girls this past May and our family is also growing from 6 to 7 kids this year with the expected arrival of a baby boy from Ethiopia.

I love to see God call and his people answer. To God be the glory. It's what it's all about!

Your precious oldest son, first born, Jeremiah, amazes me. I have never met him but through pictures and this picture especially, his body language, his smile, his embrace, and his "vibe" screams that he has a precious heart for his family and for Jesus. It is unbelievable that in this picture he still "looks" and seems like the BIG brother. I am amazed by his patience and bravery. What a sweet soul for the works of his savior. Blessings to you and your family and this new journey.

Wow GOD!!!

This will probably sound weird, but I had a feeling you all would somehow end up with an older boy in your home ... you have talked about that being the one thing you just weren't sure about doing. :)))

We are so blessed with our son whom we adopted at age 10 1/2. He is such a JOY to parent (well most of the time). He is a typical boy after all who is nearing to the teenage years!

Kevin is so blessed to have you all step into his life and I know him stepping into yours will be a blessing too!

What a sweet, sweet picture! I love how Jeremiah has his arm draped over his Kevin's shoulder!

:))) Praying for you all during this sweet and blessedly chaotic time of transition!

I love that I heard you speak that Saturday. At the end I remember you said you were praying for another. I started to pray for you, because I felt it would be soon...and then Monday (maybe Tues) on fb I saw your status....Sometimes God works fast! CONGRATS!!!
